Rising damp is a common issue in buildings where moisture from the ground rises through walls. Here are some signs to look for:

Dark, damp spots on walls, especially near the floor.

Wallpaper or paint may start to bubble, peel, or flake due to moisture.

Salts on Walls, White, powdery deposits (efflorescence) can form on the surface of walls as moisture evaporates.

A persistent damp smell can indicate moisture issues.

Mold or mildew may appear, particularly in corners or on surfaces where moisture accumulates.

Skirting boards may become warped or rotted due to prolonged exposure to moisture.

Plaster may crack or crumble as it absorbs moisture.

Wooden floors may warp, lift, or develop a damp feel.

If you notice these signs, it may be wise to consult a professional to assess the situation and determine the best course of action.

A damp proof course (DPC) is a barrier installed in the walls of a building to prevent moisture from rising up from the ground. It typically consists of bricks chopped out at dpc level and membrane and engineering bricks installed.

The primary purpose of a DPC is to protect the building from dampness, which can lead to structural damage, mold growth, and other moisture-related issues. Proper installation and maintenance of a DPC are essential for the longevity and integrity of a building.
